We are two days into a series of winter storms forecast to pound the Tahoe-Truckee region this week, and some area ski resorts are reporting 2 ½ feet of snow as of Thursday morning, Jan. 17.
While snow turned to rain at lake level Wednesday evening, higher elevations continued to see snow through the night and into Thursday morning.
Here are the 24-hour and 48-hour totals reported by some of the Tahoe region’s ski resorts:
Kirkwood Mountain Resort reports 16 inches in 24 hours and 30 inches in 48 hours.
Sierra-at-Tahoe reports 15 inches in 24 hours and 29 inches in 48 hours at its base.
Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe reports 20-24 inches in 24 hours and 33-39 inches in 48 hours.
Diamond Peak Ski Resort reports 12 inches in 24 hours and 24 inches in 48 hours.
Heavenly Mountain Resort reports 12 inches in 24 hours and 19 inches in 48 hours.
Snow is expected to fall through the day and into Friday morning. A winter storm warning will remain in effect until 4 a.m. Friday.
Wind and snow are expected to hamper conditions at Tahoe area resorts Thursday. Check conditions before venturing out to your respective mountain.
