This weekend in Tahoe, you can try mountain biking in the dark with the Tahoe Area Mountain Biking Association or running 72-miles — AKA a triple marathon — around the entire lake for the Lake Tahoe Marathon. Indulge in some brewery fun at Alibi Ale Works in Truckee where a lively funk concert is taking place on Saturday or head to the South Shore for the annual Autumn Carnival at Lake Tahoe AleWorX on Sunday. And if you haven’t seen it already, the final three showings of “Steel Magnolias” are scheduled for this week at Valhalla Tahoe’s Boathouse Theatre.
The Lake Tahoe Marathon | Oct. 12-14

Whether you’re looking for a 5K race or a full marathon, the three-day lake-wide running event has something for everyone. Dress up in costume for the Super Hero 5K Pumpkin Run at Edgewood Golf Course, run around Lake Tahoe at night for the Saturday Night Midnight Express 72 Mile Ultra, or form at team and try out the 4-Person Marathon Relay.
Corral Night Ride | Oct. 13 | South Lake Tahoe

Dress up in costume and hop on your mountain bike this Saturday for the Corral Night Ride, an annual fundraiser hosted by the Tahoe Area Mountain Biking Association. The event, which is $20 for TAMBA members and $25 for non-members, is also a “poker ride.” Participants receive a card at each of the stops along the ride in hopes of landing a prize-winning hand. Meet at the parking area for the Corral Loop Trail in South Lake Tahoe at 5:30 p.m. The ride starts at 6 p.m.
Funk band Swoop Unit at Alibi Ale Works | Oct. 13 | Truckee

This Saturday at Alibi Ale Works Truckee Public House catch the eight-piece funk band Swoop Unit playing from 9 a.m. to midnight. The Bay Area-based band plays a mix of classic covers and original funk that is sure to keep the crowd moving. Admission is $5.
Valhalla Tahoe presents Steel Magnolias | Oct. 12-14 | South Lake Tahoe

Catch one of the final three showings of the play “Steel Magnolias” performed by an all-local cast at Valhalla’s Boathouse Theatre. Just months after playwright Robert Harling’s sister died of complications from diabetes, he wrote this tribute to his sister, mother and the circle of Southern women who supported them. The play has been performed around the world, and in 1988, was made into a movie starring Sally Field and Julia Roberts.
Autumn Carnival | Oct. 14 | South Lake Tahoe

Lake Tahoe AleWorX and Tahoe Pourhouse are filling their shared outdoor space at The Crossing at Tahoe Valley with fun for the whole family this Sunday. Contests, carnival games, magic shows, face painting, live music and a screening of “The Goonies” are all on deck for the second annual Autumn Carnival.
